Age 62, of Grove St., Warsaw, died February 23, 2011 at Park Ridge Hospital in Rochester.
He was born March 25, 1948 in Ithaca, NY, son of Donald and Sally Feraldi Hughes of Perry. He was a graduate of Perry Central School Class of 1966 and was also a graduate of Ithaca College and was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity at Ithaca College. Mike worked for over 15 years at Hawley’s Lumber Yard Restaurant in Perry and then worked for 12 years as a sales representative for Service Universal based in Rochester, prior to his retirement.
Mike was the current president of the Perry Rotary Club and was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Perry. He was an accomplished musician and vocalist, often performing jazz and big band music with his father’s orchestra. He was a sports fan and enjoyed running and playing racquetball. Mike was a wonderful storyteller and he enjoyed nothing more than cooking and spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving along with his parents are his wife, Dawnne Byroads Hughes, whom he married October 6, 1990; his children, Peter Hughes of Arizona, Maggie (Gary) Robb of Honeoye Falls, Matthew (Aaron Kibler) Dumbleton of Warsaw, Connor Hughes of Warsaw, Chase Hughes of Warsaw; his siblings, Steve (Barbara) Hughes of Omaha, NE, Patrick (Karen) Hughes of Milwaukee, WI, Robin (Michael) Fitch of Milwaukee, WI, Beth Ann (Norman) Zawisza of St. Albans, VT; his grandchildren, Carolyn and Catherine Robb; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Sunday 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 at Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw. Mike’s service will be held Monday at 3 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Perry, 35 Covington St., Perry. Burial will be in West Perry Cemetery, Perry at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
