July 14, 1921 - January 23, 2012
Age 90 of Castile died January 23, 2012 at home under the loving care of her family and hospice and is now dancing before Jesus.
She was born July 14, 1921 in Summit, NJ, daughter of the late Edwin and Theresa Baker Van Cise. She was the salutatorian of her high school class in Summit, New Jersey and she received a bachelor of science degree in Home Economics from Cornell University. Marydith was competitive in tennis and was the Summit city champion and senior doubles state tennis champion.
She was active in serving church through Sunday school, choir, prison ministry and migrant day care ministry. Mrs. DeGolyer was a member of the Gala Club in Castile, the Wednesday Club and Bridge Club. She was an accomplished painter and enjoyed reading, traveling and sewing.
She was predeceased by her husband, Avery DeGolyer.
Surviving are her children, Jim (Mary) DeGolyer of Ecuador, Mary Lee (Reggie) Page of Groveland, Willard (Maureen) DeGolyer of Castile, Jeanie (Bigga) Batson of Silver Springs, David (Dierdre) DeGolyer of Castile; twin brother, Oliver VanCise of Bend, OR; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Edwin, Jerrold, Kenneth and Stanley VanCise and Gladys Holman.
Friends may call Friday 3 – 6 PM at the Castile United Church of Christ, N. Main & Washington Sts., Castile where a memorial service will be held Friday at 7 PM.
