Mary E. Slaight Streamer

December 30, 1920 - June 22, 2010

Age 89, of Jackson St., Warsaw died June 22, 2010 at the Wyoming Co. Comm. Hospital in Warsaw.

Mary was born December 30, 1920 in West Sparta, NY daughter of the late Thomas W. and Lillian Redmond Slaight. She graduated from the Wyoming County Community Hospital School of Nursing in 1943 and she worked as a registered nurse at the hospital for almost 40 years prior to her retirement in 1982. She was an avid golfer for many years. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, William N. Streamer who died in 1978 and her son, William C. Streamer who died in 1981.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary (Daniel) Fridley of Warsaw; her grandchildren, Thomas (Kristi) Streamer, Matthew (Amanda Freeman) Streamer, Laura (Allan) Donnelly, Joseph R. Fridley, Douglas W. Fridley, Jenna L. Fridley and Benjamin T. Fridley; her great grandchildren, Jake William Streamer, Hannah Mae Donnelly, Mackenzie Lynn Fridley and Veronica Elizabeth Streamer; her siblings, William (Ruth) Slaight of West Sparta, Helen (late John) Ward of Whiting, NJ, Walter (Jeri) Slaight of Paige, AZ, Betty (late Walter) Steur of Williamsville, Nancy (late Clifford) Bell of Georgetown, DE; several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John (Peggy) Slaight.

Mary wanted a simple funeral; “no fussing” as she put it. It was her desire to be cremated. Forever thoughtful of others first, she did not want her siblings or grandchildren to endure long calling hours or the emotional stress of saying their good byes in a public way. We, the immediate family have each had our special time with her. In lieu of calling hours, the family would like to invite all friends and family to bring their memories and condolences to a gathering in celebration of her life on Sunday, June 27 beginning at 3 PM at the home of her daughter at 19 Grove St., Warsaw. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Mary will be laid to rest in the Warsaw Cemetery with her husband and son. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Livingston-Wyoming ARC, 18 Main St., Mt. Morris, NY 14510. Arrangements are being completed by Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, Warsaw. Aunt Mary will be greatly missed. What a wonderful woman. Will always carry her in my heart as a young woman making sure I was kept busy and included. I had such wonderful adventures in Warsaw and great memories of my cheerful Aunt. Love and prayers to all the Fridley's and Streamers and of course to all the siblings of Mary.

Aunt Mugsy-
first to be there to help out- always with a good laugh- and sometimes keeping us in line. My memories of you will be in your kitchen at 2 Jackson- or at Oak Street - you and Lillian were so much alike. You meant so much to so many people..and a great deal to me...YOu were truly the glue- and you will be missed greatly and never forgotten.
Love, Martha

Jun 24.10 from Dave Miller:
In growing up in the old neighborhood, your mom was like a second mom to me.The way she always made sure that Bill and I never got into any real trouble and always had a lesson to her caring. She always made me feel welcome in her home and always said the right things to make you feel good about yourself. She always called me "Daveo" which I think to note that I was just not another Dave. I have always remembered those summer vacations to the Adirondack Mountains with your family, with your mom trying to teach me how to water ski. Mary was a great role model in my young life. My heart goes out to you and your family.
