Age 80, of N. Main St., Castile, died November 8, 2008 at her home under hospice care.
She was born July 4, 1928 in Buffalo, daughter of the late Edward and Anna Lina Kraft. She was a graduate of the University of Buffalo and in earlier years served as a professor of history, psychology and social work. She then became a full time matriarch for her growing family. She enjoyed history, cooking, crocheting, gardening and reading. Marie was devoted to her family and home. She was an avid traveler and enjoyed spending time in Florida. She is predeceased by her husbands, Laurence Margerum who died in 1973 and Jack Ferrante who died in 2000.
Surviving are her children, Larry Margerum of Daleville, AL, Gary (Laurie) Margerum of Nunda, Brian (Annette) Margerum of Pensacola, FL, Kevin (Judith) Margerum of Richmond, VA, Cynthia Young and Sandra Young both of Castile; her brother, Dr. William (Lucy) Kraft of Hamburg; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins and her cherished pets, Claire and Murphy. She is the sister of the late Paul Kraft and grandmother of the late Kenneth Margerum.
Friends may call Tuesday 2 – 4 PM at Harmon-Watson Funeral Home, 35 N. Main St., Castile where a service will be held immediately following calling hours at 4 PM. Private interment will be held in Lancaster Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Castile Rescue Squad.
