Marian M. Whitmore

December 23, 1921 - May 8, 2015

Age 93, of Gainesville, NY died on May 8, 2015 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris.

Marian was born on December 23, 1921 in the Town of Pike, daughter of the late Arthur and Amy Wagar Mead. She was employed for many years as a mental health aid at the former Craig Colony in Sonyea, NY.

Marian was a long time member of the Rock Glen Baptist Church. She also was a member of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union and the Grange. Marian enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting and she was well known for making wedding cakes for many years.

Marian was predeceased by her husband, George D. Whitmore who died in 1996 and by her sister, Dorothy Holmes.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary Klotzbach of Gainesville; her son, Douglas (Maria) Whitmore of Gainesville; five grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.

Friends may call Tuesday, May 12 from 5 – 8 PM at the Harmon-Watson Funeral Home, 35 N. Main St., Castile. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 13 at 10:30 AM at Elmwood Cemetery, Pike followed by Marian’s memorial service at noon at the Rock Glen Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 529 E. Main St., Batavia, NY 14020 or Rock Glen Baptist Church, 4311 Route 19, Silver Springs, NY 14550.
