Marian E. Powers

February 21, 1917 - February 8, 2011

Age 93, a resident of East Side Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw and a long time Warsaw resident, died February 8, 2011 at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

She was born February 21, 1917 in the Town of Hume, NY, daughter of the late Albert and Annabelle Locke Sweet. She attended Fillmore High School and was employed for over 20 years as a licensed practical nurse at the former Manor Oak Skilled Nursing Facility in Warsaw prior to her retirement in 1995. In earlier years, she worked at other local nursing facilities. Marian was a member of the West Middlebury Baptist Church and the Warsaw Grange. She was a former member of the Rebekah Lodge and a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Warsaw Fire Department.

Mrs. Powers was predeceased by her husband, Clair, who died in 1972.

Surviving are her son, Lawrence (Doreen) Powers of Dale; her daughters, Louise (Paul) Fleming of East Bethany and Janice (Gregory) Kelsey of Warsaw; her brother, Robert (Viola) Sweet of Wiscoy; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Mildred Vincent.

Friends may call Friday 2 – 5 & 7 – 9 at Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw. A service will be held Saturday at 11 AM at the West Middlebury Baptist Church, Town of Middlebury. Private burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Gainesville. Memorials may be made to the West Middlebury Baptist Church, 4950 West Middlebury Rd., East Bethany, NY 14054 or East Side Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Activities Fund, 62 Prospect St., Warsaw, NY 14569.
