Age 87, of Snyder Rd., Orangeville, died September 1, 2010 at Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo.
He was born February 8, 1923 in Rebecca, Georgia, son of the late Archie and Viniah Huey Fountain. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army. Lonnie was employed for many years as a bus driver for NFT Metro in Buffalo and then later with Allegany Rehabilitation Associates and McDonald’s Bus Company. He was a member of the Harder-O’Donnell American Legion Post in Attica, Regent Riders Motorcycle Club and the Niagara Frontier Bicycle Club. Lonnie enjoyed hunting and was active in archery competitions for many years.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Lee Fountain; his children, Andrew Fountain of Varysburg, Tim Fountain of Batavia, Lonnie H. (Nanette) Fountain of Ft. Worth, TX, David Fountain of North Tonawanda, Melissa Fountain of Pennsylvania; his brothers, Tommie Crane of Defiance, OH, Willie (Sally) Crane of Tonawanda, Billy Fountain of Georgia; his sister, Louise McCraney of Mississippi; his grandchildren, Melissa (Robert) Adams, Sheila (James) Dolat, Blake Fountain, Jaimie Fountain, L.J. Fountain; 5 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Monday, September 6 from 4 – 7 PM at the Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw where a service with military honors will be held immediately following calling hours at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harder-O’Donnell American Legion Post, 83 Market St., Attica, NY 14011 or Mercy Flight Inc., 100 Amherst Villa Rd., Buffalo, NY 14225-1432.
