Lewis A. “Johnny” Howden

January 20, 1922 - September 9, 2009

Age 87, of Suckerbrook Rd., Perry, died September 9, 2009 at the Wyoming Co. Comm. Hospital in Warsaw.

He was born January 20, 1922 in Short Tract, NY, son of the late Shirley and Margaret Prentice Howden. Mr. Howden was employed as a factory worker at Foster Wheeler Co. in Dansville and retired following 43 years of service. He also owned and operated a family farm in Perry for many years. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Howden was an avid baseball fan particularly of the Detroit Tigers and also enjoyed watching Buffalo Bills football.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Luella Whitmore Howden who died on June 12, 2009.

Surviving are his children, Van (Sharon) Howden of Perry, Diane (Edward) Balch of Kathleen, GA, Kay (Kevin) Lyons of Pittsford, Ann (Donald) Foltasz of Hamlin, Sharon (Leonard Jasinski) Pastore of Batavia, Cheryl (Jeff) Fagan of Perry; his sister, Janet Snyder of Olean; his brother, Robert (Terri Stanbro) Austin of Perry; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Leroy Howden.

Friends may call Saturday 11 AM – 2:30 PM at Harmon-Watson Funeral Home, 35 N. Main St., Castile where a service will be held Saturday at 3 PM. Burial will be in West Perry Cemetery, Perry.
