Age 56, of Canandaigua, formerly of Geneseo and Warsaw died November 21, 2011 at home under hospice care.
She was born April 12, 1955 in Warsaw, daughter of the late John Francis and Gladys Glaser Almeter. Karen worked as an account clerk for the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department, the Wyoming County Department of Health, the State University of New York at Geneseo and the Livingston County Treasurer’s Office. She enjoyed her time at Letchworth State Park, camping, sewing, yard sales and dogs. She loved spending time with her family and friends and had a great love of simple pleasures and had a passion for geneology. Karen was a self described “bargain hunter” and was known for her wit and humor. She also enjoyed her time volunteering at the Canandaigua Veterans Administration Hospital.
Surviving are her son, Darren (Elizabeth) Fox of Warsaw; her beloved friend, Bob Kaprzak of Canandaigua; her former spouse, David Fox of Attica; her siblings, Janet (the late Ron) McNally of Henrietta, Joan (the late James) Wolf of Williamsville, Daniel (Kathy) Almeter of Varysburg, Linda Almeter of Rochester; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Friends may call Friday 2 – 4 & 6 – 9 pm at Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw and Saturday from 9 – 10 am at St. Cecilia’s Church in Sheldon where her Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10 am. Burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, North Java. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Canandaigua VA Hospital, 400 Fort Hill Ave., Canandaigua, NY 14424 or Angel Action, 6470 Rt. 20A, Perry, NY 14530 or Relay for Life, 101 John J.
