Age 89, a resident of Morgan Estates in Geneseo, formerly of Gainesville and Belfast, died June 17, 2011 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw.
She was born October 29, 1921 in Centerville, NY, daughter of the late Chester and Laura Histed Brueser. She was employed for many years as the postmistress in Gainesville, NY prior to her retirement in 1986. June was a long time member of the Gainesville United Methodist Church and served for many years as a Sunday school teacher. She was honored by the Methodist Conference for work with “latch key” kids. She was a member of the Gladiolus Rebekah Lodge in Gainesville and was an advisor for the Theta Rho Club (Junior Rebekahs). June volunteered for many years with the Wyoming County Community Hospital Auxiliary and for hospice care in Allegany County. She was a member of the Castile Historical Society and was the former Gainesville Town Historian.
June was predeceased by her first husband, Chester Dumbleton in 1974 and by her second husband, Charles Comstock.
Surviving are her daughter, Laura (Ronald) Eddy of Pike; her sons, Charles (Dorothy) Dumbleton of Pavilion and Richard (Barbara) Dumbleton of Covington; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Jack Brueser and William Brueser.
Friends may call Wednesday 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 at Harmon-Watson Funeral Home, 35 N. Main St., Castile where a service will be held Thursday at 2 PM. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Gainesville. Memorials may be made to HomeCare & Hospice, 550 E. Main St., Batavia, NY 14020.
