Mar 31.10 from Mary Ann & Al Reisdorf:
Our first encounter with "His Honor" was when our first child was born 11 weeks premature and was whisked to Children's Hospital for a 2 month stay. Had she died our insurance would have covered a natural abortion but she had the bad fortune to live so our insurance wouldn't pay. We were overjoyed that our baby had beat the odds and survived but overwhelmed by the debt incurred. Dear John came to our rescue through an emergency county program and assigned us an adjusted amount which we paid off in installments. He saved a floundering family and we are sure it wasn't his first or last act of compassion. God Bless you, Edie, and give you solace.
Mar 30.10 from Tom & Lucy Breslin:
Our thoughts and prayers go to the family of our friend and former neighbors John and Edie. The county has lost a great and honest man.

Dear Hon. Edie: Judge Conable was the first Judge I appeared before as a newly admitted attorney in 1979. He is the Judge by which all others are measured. I will always treasure my memories of Attica Special Term.
Mar 25.10 from edward l chassin:
Judge Conable was a great mentor to me when I was doing the writs at Attica. I will always cherish the time I spent with him. I am sorry I have to be out of town on Sunday. I wish your family the best of everything.
Mar 24.10 from Terry A. Blackmon:
Mrs. Conable, many, many years ago I worked for John at the farm. I started when I was 14 years old, and lived at Silver Lake. I enjoyed so much working on the farm and working with John. Between him and Bill Ward, I was a boy back in the early 70's, and working hard putting in hay on your farm. John was a wonderful man and will always be remembered by many. He gave me the oportunity to become the person I am today. Thanks to John I have retired from the department of corrections as a officer, to florida. Not only did I make $1.35 an hour at that time, but farm work made me learn back then that life is not easy. My condolences to you and the girls
Mar 24.10 from Elizabeth & Dave VanArsdale:
Your extended family will miss your wisdom and homespun humor
Mar 24.10 from Norman J. Baker:
When my Nephew, Gary Cousins, called to tell me that John passed away, the world around me lost a lot of its brightness. John had been a very important person in my early life. It started when he was my Sunday school teacher, and contined for many years. When I was 6 or 7, I asked the polceman, Hugh Grate, to take me to the courthouse. I asked the person at Judge Conable's office if I could speak to him. In a few minutes, he invited me into his office. He treated me like an adult, and by his actions and words, made it clear that he expected me to act like one. Those few minutes may well have been the most educational minutes of my life.
John Conable was a gentleman's gentleman, and he gave much more to Wyoming County than he ever received from it.
A few people are born with the ability to improve the character, and enrich the lives of others. John was one of those people.
Sixty years later, and three thousand miles away, John is still very much alive to me. Norman Baker, son of Albert & Sara Baker, West Hill, Warsaw, NY
Mar 23.10 from Douglas J. Kelly:
My best wishes to all the Conable's at a difficult time. I always enjoyed you guys. A lot of cars over the years. Every experience was a good one. Margaret, I haven't seen you since high school. Best wishes to you, your sister and your mom. John and Woody have a lot of catching up to do.
Mar 23.10 from Hon. John H Clark, Postmaster Retired:
I am very sorry to here of his passing. My Father, Paul Clark was worked at the Sheriff's office in Warsaw. I Retired as Postmaster of a small community near by. I also had over 50 years in the Boy Scouts of America. In the 50's and 60's Judge Conable served the Genesee Council Boy Scouts as the Chairman of the Eagle Scout Board of review. In 1963, I went before him. He always held his Board of Review in his court. As a lad of 15, looking up at him in that court room, I was scared. He passed me and also presented me my Eagle Scout in Perry NY. Later in life I too served as the Chairman of the Eagle Scout Board of Review. At a Scout Dinner, I asked him if he would allow me to use his last question he always asked each scout at the review, and he did. That question was; If I was throwing snow balls with my best friend, and I ducked, and the snow ball flew over my head and broke the next door neighbor's window...What would I do? Well, you know what the right answer was he was looking for. I used that every time I had a scout come before me for the rank of Eagle Scout. I know that John passed many more scouts that I did, but it was an Honor for me to to use his question. I will always miss him and his smile. In closing I want to say a prayer that all scouts heard at the close of a camp fire.
The Scoutmaster would have all scouts stand, join hands, and with his right hand showing the Scout Sign, would say: May the Great Scoutmaster of all good scouts be with us till we meet again.
Mar 23.10 from Heather & Amanda Hoffmeister:
