Age 78, of Buffalo, formerly of Perry, died October 4, 2011 at the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo.
He was born August 28, 1933 in Warsaw, son of the late Harry E. and Ruth L. Lowrey Barber. He was a graduate of Perry Central School in 1951. John served in the US Air Force from 1952 – 56. He was an Airman First Class and was stationed at Hickam Field in Hawaii. John worked as a draftsman for Kaustine Company and as an artist for Champion Products in Perry. He then worked as a registered nurse at Attica Correctional Facility and Buffalo Psychiatric Center. John was an outdoorsman, a writer and an antique collector.
Surviving are his son and daughter in law, John R. Barber II and Patricia Kulpa Barber both of Santa Monica, CA; his grandson, Carl Benjamin Barber; his sisters, Dora Louise (Edwin) Milliron of Kenmore, Harriett Ann Gill of Perry; many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Clifford LaVerne Barber and Ruth Janet Marcucci.
Friends may call Saturday 11 AM – 1 PM at Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw where a service will be held immediately following calling hours at 1 PM. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Perry.
