Joan V. Matson

August 30, 1931 - June 5, 2017

Age 85, of Warsaw, passed away on June 5, 2017 at the Suzanne’s Comfort Care Home in Perry.

She was born August 30, 1931 in Holland, NY, daughter of the late Keith and Isabelle Liddel Manchester. Her husband, Morgan L. Matson preceded her in death in 1993.

Joan was a graduate of Holland Central School and the Wyoming County Community Hospital Nursing School. She was employed for twenty-seven years as a registered nurse at Wyoming County Community Hospital. She had also been employed at East Side Nursing Home in Warsaw and for eleven years at The Cloisters in Warsaw prior to her retirement in 2007.

Joan was a leader for cub scouts, girl scouts and 4H. She and her husband hosted twenty-five exchange students over a period of several years. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and the Order of the Eastern Star and did volunteer work at the Wyoming County Office for the Aging, the American Red Cross and the Cloisters.

Surviving are her sons, Keith Matson of Perry, Gary (Joyce) Matson of Scottsville; her daughter, Holly Granger of Warsaw; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Robert Manchester and Ronald Manchester.

There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held for the family at Glenwood Cemetery in Perry. Memorials may be made to Suzanne’s Comfort Care, Inc., 167 N. Main St., Perry, NY 14530. Arrangements are being completed by Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, Warsaw.
