Helen S. Nasca

October 16, 1924 - February 21, 2010

Age 85, of Wyoming St., Warsaw, died February 21, 2010 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

She was born October 16, 1924 in Elmira Heights, NY, daughter of the late John and Tekla Dunda Sharak. She was a 1942 graduate of Thomas A. Edison High School in Elmira Heights and was a 1945 graduate of the Syracuse University School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Arnot-Ogden Hospital in Elmira, the former Tuberculosis Sanitarium in Mt. Morris and Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw.

She was a long time member of St. Michael’s Church in Warsaw. She enjoyed knitting and vegetable gardening and was known for her card and letter writing. Mrs. Nasca was an avid golfer, New York Yankees fan and Syracuse University sports fan. She wintered for many years in Hampstead, NC with her late husband, John Nasca who died October 2, 2008.

Surviving are her daughters, Linda Watson of Perry, Deborah (John) Gillen of Warsaw, Janice (Steven) Opladen of Greece, NY, Julie (Lawrence) Buckley of Austin, TX; her brother, Harry (Katherine) Sharak of Syracuse; 13 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late John Nasca and sister of the late Steven Sharak, Michael Sharak, Anne Brant and Mary Jane Snyder.

Friends may call Wednesday 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 at Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10 AM at St. Michael’s Church, Warsaw. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Mt. Morris.
