Dorothy M. Stoffer

October 7, 1924 - September 2, 2011

Age 86, of East St., Gainesville, NY died September 2, 2011 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw.

She was born October 7, 1924 in Gainesville, daughter of the late McKinley and Mary Elwell Prentice. Dorothy was a member of the Town of Gainesville Republican Committee for 40 years and was an election inspector for 40 years as well. She was a member of Home Bureau, St. Mary’s Church in Silver Springs and the Altar & Rosary society of the church. She was an avid reader and she enjoyed crocheting and crafts. For many years Dorothy enjoyed making afghans and donating them to those in need.

Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Max Stoffer whom she married on June 28, 1947; her children, Kenneth (Polly) Stoffer of Bliss, Kathryn (Donald) Spencer of Castile; her grandchildren, Amy (Brad) Davies, Timothy Stoffer, Natalie (John) Kelly, Michael Spencer and Matthew Spencer; 7 great grandchildren; her sisters, Lila Carlson of Warsaw, Reba Hilligas of Silver Springs, Roberta Cartwright of Gainesville, Carol (Keith) Smith of Portsmouth, VA. She was the sister of the late Richard Prentice.

There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 7 PM at Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 315 Alberta Dr., Amherst, NY 14226 or American Cancer Society, 101 John J. Audubon Pkwy., Amherst, NY 14228-1198.
