Donald R. Woodhouse

May 27, 1928 - August 30, 2012

Age 84, of N. Main St., Gainesville, died August 30, 2012 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw.

He was born May 27, 1928 in Wethersfield, NY son of the late Ray and Jessie Fox Woodhouse. Don was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean War. He was employed for many years as a working foreman with the Wyoming County Highway Department prior to his retirement in 1990. Don attended the Gainesville United Methodist Church, was a former member of the Warsaw Fire Department, the Warsaw Volunteer Exempt Firemen, the Wyoming County Veterans Club and the Silver Lake Sportsmen’s Club. He was also an avid bowler.

Don is predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Marleene Matteson Woodhouse who died July 12, 2012.

Surviving are his daughter, Sherri Errington of Gainesville; his grandchildren, Nathan and Melissa Errington; his sisters-in-law, Shirley Woodhouse of Warsaw, Gloria (Late Charles) Bauer of Alabama, NY, Ardys (late Millard) Chapman of Chester, MD; nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Charles Woodhouse and Ruth (late Walter) Duboy.

Friends may call Tuesday 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 at Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw. Don’s service will be held Wednesday at 11 AM at the Gainesville United Methodist Church, Main St., Gainesville. Burial with military honors will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Gainesville. A veteran’s memorial service will be held Tuesday at 6:45 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gainesville United Methodist Church or the Warsaw or Gainesville Fire Departments.
