Donald K. Merrill

December 9, 1952 - October 6, 2016


Age 63, of Warsaw, died October 6, 2016 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with his loving family by his side.

He was born December 9, 1952 in Warsaw, son of the late LaVerne and Geraldine Whitmore Merrill. Don was a graduate of Warsaw Central School Class of 1972 and was employed for many years as a millwright for PCore Electric Company in LeRoy prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Wyoming Conservation Association and the Wyoming County Veterans Club. He was an active member of SCOPE. He loved the outdoors and was an avid deer hunter. He also enjoyed nature photography.

Surviving are his sisters, Barb (the late Vincent) Ewell of Ormond Beach, FL, Lori (Charlotte Hamon) Merrill of Warsaw; his sisters in law, Mary Lee Merrill of Warsaw, Patricia Merrill of LeRoy; more like brother than uncle to Bob (Karen) Merrill and Linda Merrill; several nieces and nephews; lifelong friends, Frank Hollister, Jack Keough, Bob Holts, Joe Beinhauer. He was the brother of the late Gerald Merrill, Norman “Butch” Merrill, David Merrill, Roger Merrill, Jim Merrill and brother in law to the late Diana Merrill.

Friends may call Monday, October 10 from 1 – 3 PM at Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw where Don’s funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 3 PM. Private burial will be in Warsaw Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute (Head & Neck Dept.), 665 Elm St., Buffalo, NY 14203 or Wyoming Conservation Assoc., c/o Jack Plowe, 136 Linwood Ave., Warsaw, NY or Wyoming County SCOPE.
