Claudia J. Stover

June 13, 1940 - February 26, 2018

Age 77, of Warsaw, passed away on February 26, 2018 at the Wyoming County Nursing Facility in Warsaw.

She was born in Fillmore, NY on June 13, 1940, daughter of Merle and Wilma Shattuck. She was a lifetime resident of Wyoming County and a 1958 graduate of Letchworth Central School. Claudia worked as a food service helper, cook and assistant cook in the dietary department of Wyoming County Community Hospital from July 1969 until she retired in June 1995. She also worked as a volunteer for the VA Clinic in Warsaw.

Claudia was a lifetime member of the Pike Community Church in Pike, NY. She served as treasurer of the women’s group, made her famous broccoli soup for the rummage sale lunch, sang in the choir and most of all loved working for the ticket booth at the church hamburger stand at the Wyoming County Fair. Claudia and her lifetime friend, Chink VanBuskirk started the serving of breakfast at the church stand in the early 1990’s.

Claudia loved to read, needlepoint and pick blueberries with her mother. She loved her collection of horses and carousels.

She is predeceased by her father, Merle Shattuck and her nephew, Brian McDonald.

Surviving are her mother, Wilma Shattuck; two brothers, Wendall (Patty) Shattuck of Pike, Grant (Jennifer) Shattuck of Pike; her sister, Brenda (Eugene) McDonald of Pike; her son, George Stover of Warsaw; her daughter, Yvonne “Rusty” Wyse of Warsaw; grandchildren, Chad Main, Tina (Don) Davis, Michael (Christin) Main, Joe (Sara) Stover; great grandchildren, Michael, Joe, Kyle, Jonathan, Zacharey, Alexys, Ambrosia, Christine, Halie and Alice; four nieces, nine great nieces and nephews; 1 great great nephew and one on the way.

Friends may call on Monday, March 5 from 12 – 2 PM at the Pike Community Church, Main St., Pike where Claudia’s memorial service will be held immediately following visitation at 2 PM, with a celebration of life to follow. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Claudia’s name may be made to the Pike Community Church, Main St., Pike, NY 14130.
