Billie Jean Ferris

September 21, 1919 - February 27, 2013

Age 93, of N. Main St., Castile, died under the care of her loving family at the home of her daughter in Castile on February 27, 2013.

She was born September 21, 1919 in Bluefield, WV, daughter of the late Charles and Lavonia Bowles Boling. Billie Jean was a veteran of World War II having served in the Women’s Army Air Corps. She was a long time member of the Castile United Church of Christ and the Wallace-Jeffers American Legion Post in Castile. She was a former girl scout leader and taught religious education for many years. Billie Jean was a former member of the Gala Club and the Order of the Eastern Star. She also enjoyed helping at her husband’s store, Ferris TV & Appliance.

Billie Jean was predeceased by her husband, Robert C. Ferris.

Surviving are her daughters, Marian Ferris of Castile and Susan Ferris of Castile; her granddaughter, Andrea (Scott) Sommer of Castile; her great grandchildren, Gabriel and Gillian and her beloved dog, Dixie. She was also predeceased by 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

There are no calling hours. A Memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 3 PM at the Castile United Church of Christ, (cor. Washington & N. Main Sts.) Castile. Burial will be in Grace Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Castile Rescue Squad, Castile, NY 14427.
