Betty J. Brown

January 15, 1925 - July 24, 2017

Age 92 ½, of Perry, passed away on July 24, 2017 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

She was born January 15, 1925 in West Palm Beach, FL daughter of the late Nathan and Blanch Masten Campbell. Betty was employed for many years as a registered nurse. She graduated from the Warsaw Hospital School of Nursing and then worked at a number of health care facilities including Wyoming County Community Hospital, East Side Nursing Home in Warsaw, Faxton Hospital in Utica, Wyoming County Nursing Facility and the Batavia Veterans Administration Medical Center prior to her retirement.

Betty was a longtime member of the United Church of Warsaw; was a member and past matron of the Centennial (Stebbins) Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She also was a member of the Wyoming County retired nurses group. Betty enjoyed dancing and socializing. She also enjoyed camping, boating and traveling and was devoted to her pets.

Betty was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Coleman, who died in 1960 and her second husband, Harry Brown, who died in 2006 and many siblings.

Surviving are her son, David (Annelle) Coleman of Rochester; stepchildren, Susan (Ken) LaCount of Quenca, Ecuador, Dori (Ronald) Stewart of Fairfax, VA, Liz (Chris) Eagle of Mocksville, NC; grandchildren, John (Laura) Coleman of Houston, TX, Caitlin (Kevin) Chen of Rochester; great grandchild, Emily Coleman; many step grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Monday, July 31 from 4 – 7 PM at Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw where Betty’s funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 1 at 11 AM. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Scottsburg. An Order of the Eastern Star service will be held Monday, July 31 at 7pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wyoming County Animal Shelter, 4380 Route 19, Silver Springs, NY 14550.
